In the initial chapter, “Shards of Nereid,” you fight for the Mars faction as you investigate a distress call near one of Neptune’s moons. Taking control of the Martian Light Fighter, you must fend off swarming waves of invading Kj’hal. The Light Fighter is equipped with a standard laser with access to more powerful missiles. It offers two unique control styles, and an achievement system tracks your accomplishments.

Take flight in the Martian light fighter and give us your feedback by leaving your comments on our Facebook wall or on our Forums. We take your input to heart as we plan Episode II. Thanks for being one of the first to experience Ascension.

The Ascension Team was out en masse at this year’s Triangle Game Conference in Raleigh, NC. We met tons of awesome people including great folks from Ten Ton Hammer, Epic Games, The Escapist, Independent Games Magazine, Insomniac, Icarus Studios, Republic of Fun, the Triangle Games Initiative, and various folks and freelancers of an equally exceptional magnitude.

We had a blast sharing our demo with the community. We’re guessing that somewhere between 600-900 people got to play, and feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Check out our photos from TGC.

The key to becoming a great pilot is understanding and mastering your ship. As a pilot in Ascension, you may choose from one of four ship types to discover which best compliment your style. Choose between the nimble light fighter, the dependable medium fighter, the brutish heavy fighter, or the supporting engineer. Each has its own unique strengths and weaknesses that could save your team from destruction.

Ascension is on Kickstarter!

Help fund Ascension: Incursio by visiting our page on Kickstarter. There are some epic incentives to donate. We’re really excited to spread the word. Pass it on!

Our Kickstarter project is called “Ascension War: Incursio.” Incursio challenges the conventions of what it means to be a game on Facebook. It will be one of the first true 3D games embedded directly into Facebook and one of the only Facebook games with a story. It will still have social elements, like giving and receiving powerups to and from friends, but it will be a much more sophisticated gaming experience than Facebook games have been in the past.

The money we are asking for on Kickstarter is to help sustain Incursio. Specifically, we plan to use the funding from Kickstarter to purchase more licenses of our game engine (Unity 3D). Anything beyond that will go to other hardware and software upgrades, and anything beyond that will go toward expanding Incursio with more ship and weapon upgrades, more maps, more enemies, etc.

We have a transmedia approach to design which means we have plans to expand the Ascension universe through additional games, comics, novels, plays, and films. But don’t think that we want to throw our brand on just anything and call it a day Each piece of the universe enriches the others so that each functions as a part of a whole and as a whole unto itself, all while forwarding our overall artistic vision. By contributing to Incursio, you are not only helping fund a single unique experience, but you are providing the catalyst for a new, exciting, entertaining, thoughtful, and artistic intellectual property…

DR Incursion at SIEGECON 2010

Digital Roar Studios is proud to be an official supporting sponsor of SIEGE 2010. SIEGE is “is the definitive center of gravity for knowledge exchange among video game industry professionals and students in the southeastern U.S. This year, the show will host 600-650 attendees who will enjoy up to 2 keynotes, 60 break-out sessions, and 15 social/networking events,” including parities, game competitions, music, and awards.

We will have a booth set up in the expo area where we will be debuting Ascension: Incursio, a true social, online, 3D experience for Facebook.
